ABOUT CAMBRIDGE NEWS INC.
A coalition of Cambridge residents have launched a nonpartisan newsroom dedicated to in-depth journalism that will help residents make informed decisions to better their lives and hold local institutions accountable.
Research shows that while Cambridge is a hub of innovation and civic engagement, its 120,000 residents lack access to consistent reporting on local government, education, housing, community happenings and issues. Our rebuilt news source will address this critical gap in local journalism, and so we seek your counsel.
As a first step, we have established a nonprofit news organization, Cambridge News Inc., to be led by a community based board, and we have acquired the current Cambridge Day. Additionally, the Cambridge Community Foundation has established and seeded a Local News Fund that will support Cambridge News Inc.
Next, we plan to hire a Publisher, an Editor-in-Chief, and reporters to transform Cambridge Day into a vital, trusted news outlet for Cambridge, using a range of media. Here’s a link to a report reflecting what led us to this point.
There are many ways to financially support the mission of Cambridge News Inc – personal checks, DAF transfers, securities, ACH, QCD from an IRA or online. Click here for more information about supporting Cambridge News Inc. or email gifts@cambridgenews.org.
